GRAND PAVOIS BEACH, THE NEW THEMED AREA AT GRAND PAVOIS LA ROCHELLE!
While the Grand Pavois La Rochelle 2023 confirmed its status as a business show, a novelty show and a meeting place for tomorrow’s boating trends, the area devoted to Gliding and Light Sailing will benefit from a real evolution-revolution in 2024, in order to highlight the incredible opportunity of having direct access to the sea with your feet in the sand. The Grand Pavois La Rochelle is one of the only boat shows in the world to have such direct access to the sea, and it wants its 80,000 visitors expected in 2024 to benefit from it.
A new name, the Grand Pavois Beach.
It’s a new name that celebrates the new concept put in place by Grand Pavois Organisation for 2024 with the Grand Pavois Beach. Inspired by Grand Pavois Fishing and its sport fishing activities, the Plage des Minimes will become the Grand Pavois Beach from 2024 onwards, with the aim of celebrating board sports and light sailing, while also opening up to new activities such as open water swimming, fat biking, longe-côte and scuba diving, as well as funboarding, kitesurfing, light sailing and rowing activities such as canoeing, kayaking, Polynesian pirogues and paddle boarding. The idea is to open up to as many people as possible, and especially to brands, the practice and promotion of all these activities that bring in new enthusiasts and create new passions, all in a spirit of fun and sharing.
A new format of dates with two days reserved for professionals followed by three and a half days for all visitors.
In order to respond to the wishes of the boardsports and light sailing brands, the format of the dates is changing. It’s a real evolution-revolution for the Grand Pavois La Rochelle to split the 6 days of exhibition into two distinct sessions.
The first two days, Tuesday 1 and Wednesday 2 October, will be devoted to meetings, trials and order-taking opportunities for professionals in the sector, with displays of new products and equipment on the beach at Les Minimes, in a dedicated area reserved for exhibiting brands. The idea is to meet the expectations of professionals (sailing and leisure clubs, federations, rental companies, etc.) who want to take advantage of a time set aside to discover and try out equipment on the water, talk to each other and place orders for the coming season. Early autumn is the perfect time to look ahead to next spring’s equipment and orders, and the Grand Pavois La Rochelle also gives professionals who have come to discover this area the chance to visit the show to complete and deepen their contacts with the brands of sailboats, RIBs and equipment they need for their activities. This two-day reserved time will be accessible to professionals by badge only.
Opening on Thursday October 3 at 2.00 pm, it’s another Grand Pavois Beach that will be opening its doors, as all visitors will be expected on the Plage des Minimes until Sunday evening. 3 and a half days of equipment exhibitions, new products, trials, sea or pool trials and demonstrations for all, punctuated by conferences, meetings and DJ Sets in the beach bar specially designed for the occasion. In response to requests from the boardsports and light sailing brands, the Grand Pavois Beach has deliberately reduced the period open to all in order to minimise investment and exhibition costs, even though the Grand Pavois La Rochelle is, in the opinion of many professionals, one of the best shows in the world in terms of quality/price and cost/contact.
New activities
While the DNA of this space is and will remain trials and baptisms open to all, these will be strengthened and made more powerful, while guaranteeing their safety and supervision. Facilitating access to sailing and to the sea remains one of the leitmotifs of the Grand Pavois Organisation, and the association also wishes to develop relations with the clubs in order to promote their activities and offers. Working together is a priority for the Grand Pavois La Rochelle, and showing in concrete terms the work of these enthusiasts is a priority. Numerous other activities will also be on offer, including demonstrations and introductions to mountain biking, fat biking, coastal longeering, light sailing, gliding, Polynesian pirogues, beach volleyball, etc. There will also be a meeting area where exhibiting brands will present their latest equipment and innovations, as well as screenings of promotional board sports and adventure films, meetings and conferences on a variety of themes open to all, not forgetting eco-responsibility and the preservation of the oceans, which remains one of the priorities of this area.
Practice for all, the very foundation of the Grand Pavois Organisation, will also be promoted by the presence of the Handi Cap’Access area, supported by the Charente-Maritime department. Once again present on the Minimes beach, this area promotes access to sailing for the disabled, with the support of the two departmental federations, Handisport and Sport Adapté. Every year, 500 people discover and take part in water sports activities here. It’s an area that can’t be ignored!
Finally, at the end of each day, DJ Sets concerts will be held on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 5.00 p.m. to make the most of the Grand Pavois Beach and this exceptional location, with your feet in the sand, on the Minimes beach.

REPORT DU SPECTACLE VOILES DE NUIT 2023, RENDEZ-VOUS EN 2024
Le spectacle pyrotechnique et digital Voiles de Nuit organisé par Grand Pavois Organisation dans le cadre du Grand Pavois La Rochelle, initialement programmé le samedi 23 septembre dans l’avant-port de La Rochelle, n’aura finalement pas lieu cette année. Le Conseil d’Administration, qui s’est tenu mardi 29 août et présidé par Alain Pochon, a décidé à la majorité de reporter le spectacle en 2024 pour des problématiques de délai d’organisation.

After being cancelled in 2020 due to the global pandemic and the introduction of the health pass in 2021, the Grand Pavois La Rochelle believed it would potentially see a 20 to 30% drop in visitor numbers for this edition organised in the unusual context of a health crisis. However, this year’s event contradicts and counters all forecasts since 80,000 visitors (editor’s note, 79,916 visitors) were present on the pontoons and alleys of the international in-water boat show, namely a 5% increase in relation to the previous edition in 2019.
